Description
Focusing on native San Franciscan Alice B. Toklas, this exhibit of photographs, correspondence, and other ephemera from the Stein/Toklas collection of Hans Gallas highlights the various roles Toklas played in her almost forty-year relationship with Gertrude Stein. Exhibit runs through December 20. Collector Hans Gallas and Anthony Bliss of the Bancroft Library will speak about the collection and play excerpts from a rare recorded interview with Alice B. Toklas on Tuesday, October 23. Fred Rosenbaum will talk about Gertrude Stein and Her Circle of San Francisco Jewish Women in Paris on Thursday, October 18. All programs are free and open to the public.
