INKBOAT, founded by Artistic Director Shinichi Iova-Koga in 1998, is a performance collective working in fractured, filmic, delicate and decayed environments. InkBoat’s performances evoke both the traditional and the experimental, drawing heavily from movements (political, artistic, personal) of challenge. Each performance is a dialogue between apparent and hidden worlds. Living in and between San Francisco, Berlin, New York, Tokyo and Seattle, inkBoat has involved the collaboration of many artists spanning the fields of dance, music, and the visual arts.

For WDDF-SF inkBoat will stage a new iteration of its celebrated 2001 performance titled Cockroach. Inspired by recent work with Ralph Lemon, Iova-Koga and collaborators reimagine the work as a Kafkaesque “house of the mind,” using distortion, erasure and the bodily response of younger performers. It's new title is Exquisite Cucaracha.

ANGHARAD DAVIES (SCUBA-Minneapolis) is an award-winning dancer, choreographer, and teacher. She has performed around the world with numerous directors and companies, including Gibney Dance, Hanna Hegenscheidt, Andrea Schlehwein’s Netzwerk AKS, Mariano Pensotti, Megan Mayer, and Chris Yon. Davies has written about dance for The Dance Insider, and has taught at Yale, Princeton, Berlin’s Staatlicheballettschule, and Sasha Waltz & Guests. She is currently on faculty at the Saint Paul Conservatory for Performing Artists and is a lecturer at the University of Minnesota.

For WDDF-SF she will mount a two-person work titled Security, which explores how barely acquainted colleagues cope with maintaining emotional and physical boundaries with one another during the tedious hours of shift work.
