Tru’s introduction of the “modern day spa” concept has revolutionized the spa industry. In addition to the expected spa pampering and relaxation, Tru offers a more focused approach toward results oriented treatments. This philosophy is seen everywhere, from the expertise of the staff to the numerous technical innovations to an environment that actually interact with and enhances the spa experience.
Why Tru massages are better…
There are a lot of massage choices in San Francisco. Below is a list of 10 reasons why Tru offers one of the best massages in the Bay Area.
- The staff is superior. Tru pays them well, gives them what they need to succeed, and creates a work environment where they look forward to coming to work. Tru is one of the busiest day spas in town so they have the pick of the best therapists in the area.
- Aromatherapy and Colored Light Therapy are used in conjunction to achieve client goals. While aromatherapy has been used for years in massage, there is just as much scientific evidence of the power of colors in respect to the physiological changes they influence.
- Tru massages are done with Shea Butter instead of greasy oil or sticky cream. Not only does it feel better, but it is a natural substance that is, unlike oils and creams, very good for the skin. Tru is the only spa in town that takes on this extra cost to provide this extended luxury for their clients.
- Part of the massage experience is the environment. Tru is not an office like massage studio or a renovated townhouse posing as a spa. They have a stunning, two million dollar spa facility. The rooms are very generously sized and Tru provides showers, private men’s & women’s lounges, complimentary refreshments and snacks, and cedar lockers.
- This is Tru’s specialty, it is what they do. They are not a health club. They are not a yoga center. They are not a hair salon. Their only job is to provide the best spa services in town. Judging by the critics they are doing a pretty good job.
- Tru massages start at 75 minutes. While it is sometimes possible to address all of the body’s issues in 50, 55, or 60 minutes, why take the gamble? Tru believes in providing the best service possible, so by offering slightly longer massages, they are ensuring clients leave with the treatment and benefits they came in for.
- Massages begin with a gentle, tingling body scrub. The combined action of the gentle exfoliating beads and the invigorating peppermint oil stimulates the skin. This is important because if brings blood into the tissues which is crucial in preparing your body to derive the maximum benefit from the massage. Tru massages include a self-heating mask for the feet which just feels great.
- Tru spa is probably the most accessible spa in the Bay Area, which is nice when clients try to prolong that post-massage blissful relaxation state. Tru has parking in the building is located right downtown in the financial district, so if taking public transportation they are easy to get to from pretty much anywhere.
- For a small charge, kick it up a notch with a hair and scalp treatment or a high powered knot removing tool.
- Nobody touches Tru massages. Yet, Tru is still extremely competitively priced at $125. There are few, if any, other spas that don’t charge more for their 75 or 80 minute aromatherapy massages.

Wet Body Treatments
The Tropical Rainforest Room is an oasis like no other. Tru keeps the effectiveness of a body 'wrap' without the discomfort and claustrophobic feeling of the wrap itself. The room creates a dramatic and alluring experience which is the talk of the industry and must be experienced to be believed!
Gentle 'jungle' music soothes while the therapist applies the exfoliating body scrub, then follows with the body mask. The therapist then leaves the room for the client to enjoy the warm jungle mist. After about 10 minutes of steam, the skies open up to a warm, heavy, tropical rain which completely washes away the mask. As the rain subsides, a 100 gallon a minute invigorating waterfall becons. The final alcove is a finishing area with a warmed towel and robe.
