Description

The Last Chicken in America presents twelve linked, wryly humorous stories about Russian Jewish immigrants trying to assimilate into their new lives in Squirrel Hill, Pittsburgh. This impressive debut collection captures the sometimes painful, sometimes hilarious collision of cultures, religions, and generations in contemporary America. Author Ellen Litman grew up in Moscow and immigrated to the United States in 1992.
