ABOUT ENGEYE HEALTH CLINIC:
http://www.engeye.org
Engeye Health Clinic was set up in Dgegya Village, Uganda in April, 2007 by John Kalule and Stephanie Van Dyke to improve living conditions and reduce unnecessary suffering in rural Africa through education and compassionate health care. In Uganda, it is estimated that there are 4 physicians per 100,000 people (more than 60 times less than in the US), with only 100 surgeons for the entire population of 28.8 million, 80% of which live in rural areas. Engeye seeks to prevent medical “brain drain” from rural areas by providing superior accommodations and facilities for Ugandan medical staff. Through this work, it not only provides the infrastructure for quality medical services in the rural region, it also helps to retain, motivate and attract medical professionals to want to remain in rural areas.
