Chef Reed Hearon's cuisine at Liguria (an Italian region near Genoa) has re-invigorated North Beach's food scene. While sometimes a bit overly experimental (was that a twig in the Fritto Misto?) Rose Pistola provides an excellent atmosphere for that casual but upscale Thursday or Friday night. White truffle oil features prominently in the menu, as does Quail, Rabbit and other 'delicacies' of Northern Italy.

Many dishes are served "family style" which adds to the authenticity of the meal and it should be noted that the back part of the restaurant is by far quieter than the front.
