Waterfront Bars and Clubs

Technically not a district, the Waterfront area is a small stretch of pier space in between the Embarcadero and Fisherman's Wharf that does have a few hubs. Shack-like secrets like Red's Java House hide some of the best burgers in the city, gleefully washed down by ice-cold beer. San Francisco's waterfront is quite mesmerizing, and seafood houses like Sinbad's provide the perfect, subdued evening out. Pier 23 serves as a vibrant music venue where rock, reggae and other local music can be heard while sipping a cocktail and enjoying the cool bay breeze.

Live reggae, rock and more music take over the front bar at Pier 23, while outside the expansive pier-turned-patio gets packed with happy San Franciscans drinking, eating oysters and enjoying being so close to the water and not freezing for the views.
