Tenderloin Bars and Clubs

San Francisco has quite a few hidden gems, but the Tenderloin district has to be the most transitional and hands down the most hidden. Surrounded by the wealth of downtown San Francisco and Nob Hill and the culture of the theatre district, the Tenderloin is the urban underbelly of San Francisco. Somewhere between seedy and ultra-hip, the neighborhood has been moving in a positive direction for the past couple of years with new trendy restaurants, like Brick, popping up more and more. For whatever reason, nightlife has continued to thrive in the area; bars like Hemlock Tavern are always packed on the weekends, attracting partiers from all walks of life. The streets of the Tenderloin are more pungent than dangerous with some of the characters milling about providing excellent drunken entertainment.
