| Description Novelist and critic Jonathan Wilson clears away the sentimental mists surrounding the celebrated artist Marc Chagall in his new biography. Wilson's portrait of Chagall is somewhat more political than previous biographies, probing Chagall's ambivalence about his role as a Jewish artist and examining his secular outlook, even in his portrayal of the tragic events of the Jewish past. Co-sponsored with the Contemporary Jewish Museum. |
