Cafés of Paris are traditionally called “zincs” (pronounced ‘zang’), derived from the word for pewter bar counters, which became a trademark of French bistros. Similar to cafes born in Paris, Le Zinc, located in San Francisco’s quaint Noe Valley, exemplifies the standards that have pleased diners in France for years. Living this tradition, Le Zinc offers a relaxed and unassuming environment attracting diners who might wish to linger over a cup of coffee or a glass of wine, or to enjoy a hearty meal. As in Paris, Le Zinc has become a social meeting place for locals and visitors alike. Le Zinc in San Francisco offers a pleasant dining experience any time of day. They’re open for lunch and tapas, and a well prepared three-course dinner that guests may complement with a fine bottle of wine from a great wine list. Offering favorite French dishes, Le Zinc recaptures the ambiance and character of the traditional café culture. The bistro decor of earthy tones and dark woods, complete with an antique zinc bar, is casual yet elegant. And the sunny garden patio is a perfect setting to enjoy food and drinks in San Francisco’s secluded Noe Valley. Le Zinc is available for those simply wanting to start the day with a cup of coffee, drop in for a generous salad at lunch or sit down to a relaxing three-course dinner. Le Zinc’s goal is to create a memorable experience and bon appetite! The Bistro is also a great destination for a weekend brunch when the sunny garden patio is particularly popular, where one can relax with a café crème and a homemade French pastry. Chef-Owner, Max, takes pride in the art of recreating and innovating traditional French recipes as he did at his own restaurant and wine bar in Paris. Fresh seasonal ingredients are prepared with special imported French food products to create both classic and contemporary dishes reflecting his Gallic roots. The broad menu includes pork rillettes, foie gras terrine, cold-smoked salmon, sturgeon & artic char, fresh hand-cut French fries, ice creams, sorbets and croissants. And fresh shellfish platters, reminiscent of those served in the French brasseries, are wonderful. Before opening the Le Zinc Bistro in San Francisco, owners Max and Diana were the proprietors of "Millésimes", a Wine Bar & Restaurant in the heart of Paris. Their passion for wine is reflected in Le Zinc’s carefully selected wine list, chosen from some of the world’s most reputable wine producing regions of France. The selection ranges from the finest grand crus to excellent, yet inexpensive wines, many of which are available by the glass and carafe. Also offered are a variety of themed wine flights for those eager to discover and compare. |
