Join us for a beautiful evening in music as Soul Phunktion presents a new weekly of rhythm hosting both djs and live sounds at the amazing Monarch Venue. For our first installment Happy Mayfield a collaboration of Bay Area soul outfit The Park and roots legend Lee Bob Watson play along side singer / songwriter Karyn Paige. Paige’s inspiring voice has led to work with Mariah Carey, the Pussycat Dolls and lead singer of the Jazz Mafia. She's also landed solo gigs alongside Latyrx and Stevie Wonder!

Happy Mayfield is a group comprised of roots legend singer/songwriter Lee Bob Watson, and Bay Area Rhythm section The Park. Their unique blend of soul, funk, and rock brings substance back to pop music, creating a progressively vintage sound referencing a time when Rubber Soul, Songs in the Key of Life, and Blonde on Blonde were at the top of the pop charts. Happy Mayfield is currently supporting their latest release, Silver Cloud Time Machine, a white 7inch vinyl featuring Bay Area Soul icon Darondo.

Karyn Paige...
Having worked with Producers of Mariah Carey and the
Pussycat Dolls, Karyn Paige is as professional as they come. From session work as a backup singer to performing as lead vocalist with the Jazz Mafia, her talents have given her the opportunity to share the stage with Bay Area icons Latyrx as well as musical legend, Stevie Wonder.

Developing her own unique style and sound, Karyn has created synthed-out electro R & B vibe. Influenced over the years by many 80’s artists, Karyn cites Prince as her biggest inspiration.

Karyn Paige’s EP, titled “The KP EP”, is an eclectic collection of songs as unique and diverse as the singer herself while maintaining a common thread of sensuality and strength derived from Karyn’s powerful and melodic voice.

Produced by Joe Bagale and Matt Berkeley, the EP reflects the style and confidence of seasoned musicians but maintains a flair of energy and groove that cannot be denied. It is available on iTunes and Amazon as well as http://www.karynpaige.com.
