As one of the nation’s oldest and most well loved festivals, Bumbershoot has been a cultural institution, starting in 1971 at the Seattle Center and currently in its 39th year. As opposed to a stationary festival, Rock the Bells is what one might deem a traveling festival. Hitting over 10 cities (including three in Canada) Rock the Bells has been something of a musical institution since it got its start in 2003. Outside Lands is an annual music festival held in San Francisco’s historic Golden Gate Park. The festival is only in its second year, but has previously hosted notable rock n’ roll acts such as Radiohead, Beck, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, Wilco, and Pearl Jam. In general, Outside Lands offers over 60 distinct alternative rock, indie and hip hop bands on multiple stages, as well as a fine collection of art installations. Outside Lands is especially well known for its efforts in the environmentally friendly realm. This year, the festival will take place from August 28-30, 2009. More

Opens Second Restaurant on Union Street

This past summer, the owners of Home on Market moved into their second Home on Union Street. The Marina sister to the Castro mainstay carries on the successful comfort-food theme and adds a contemporary infusion, appropriate for its neighborhood clientele.
