About

A three-floor art-deco style complex housing the Buriel Clay Theater, the Sargent Johnson Gallery, several workshops and classrooms, and visual arts studios. The center's programs reflect diversity and highlight African American art in its traditional and contemporary forms.

Mission Statment:

* Expand Afro-centric Art and Cultural activities
* Enhance knowledge and appreciation for varied art forms
* Encourage & work to promote growth and understanding of the Afro-centric Art & Culture mediums
* Encourage the interaction of various components of African American Art and Culture (i.e. spiritual, educational, and secular).

We desire dialogue, support and interaction with the surrounding community as well as the broader San Francisco community with emphasis on positive intra-generational and inter-generational activities.
