With a new script, new songs, new sets and costumes, and sparkling new holiday memories, A.C.T.'s new production of A Christmas Carol continues the Bay Area's favorite holiday tradition.

A.C.T. Artistic Director Carey Perloff and A.C.T. Resident Dramaturg Paul Walsh head the team of world-class artists in bringing Dickens's colorful world to life on the Geary stage. Tony Award–winning Broadway scenic designer John Arnone reshapes the Geary stage into a luminous holiday atmosphere for all to enjoy. Costume designer Beaver Bauer, a Bay Area favorite who has won multiple awards for her larger-than-life designs, decks out the cast with her trademark flair. And composer Karl Fredrik Lundeberg, whose has worked in such diverse artistic arenas as A.C.T., Brooklyn Academy of Music, the Mark Taper Forum, PBS, NBC, ABC, and Paramount Pictures, creates an entirely fresh score and songs for the heartwarming holiday tradition.

A Christmas Carol follows the story of Ebenezer Scrooge, who over the course of a long Christmas Eve is visited by four ghosts (Christmases Past, Present, and Future, as well as Scrooge’s former business partner, Jacob Marley), who guide his transformation from cold-hearted miser into beloved philanthropist. First published in 1843, Dickens’s A Christmas Carol remains one of literature’s most quoted and most enduring stories of hope and triumph.
