As the lone independent record store in North Beach, 101 Music consists of two stores with a massive collection of vintage vinyl. These two cluttered spaces, located around the corner from each other on Grant and Green, seem more like museums than stores with their unreal selection of music history and prices geared toward the serious collector.

The primary location on Grant boasts rare albums that would make any record collector's heart go pitter patter. It carries original vinyl by jazz masters like Duke Ellington or John Coltrane, rock kings like Jimi Hendrix and Bowie, loads of classical albums, and just plain weird recordings like "The Compleat [sic] Carmen Miranda - That Is!" In addition to the vinyl though, they also carry a good amount of used CDs and tapes.
